Interesting times we live in, indeed.  I don’t need to tell you about the economy, our financial crisis or our limited resources.  These are well documented issues and not surprising or hardly unexpected.  Many events have occurred in the last few weeks that have shaken the entire globe economically.  In Europe, where I currently am, the general public is aghast at what is now happening in the U.S.  It’s true what “they” say….when the U.S. sneezes the whole world gets a cold.   The elections are still ahead of us.  On November 4, Election Day, we are coming up on the first of a series of Saturn-Uranus oppositions in the signs of Virgo and Pisces respectively.  The last time this opposition occurred was in the mid-late 1960’s.  What does all this mean for us today? 

Saturn (Kronos in Greek mythology) represents time and order, convention, our fears, control, organization and the reliable structures we create for support.  Uranus (Father Heaven) represents the future, originality, invention, electricity, communication, humanity, truth and technology.  These are some of the qualities each of these symbols represents. 

As these two powerful, heavenly influences oppose each other we can expect conflict to arise between the old and the new.  Regardless of whether this dynamic is readily reflected in our presidential candidates, or in our man made structures and outdated institutions, one thing is clear: we cannot continue on our present trajectory.  Our ability to sustain the fabricated reality we have created, and to which we have enslaved ourselves, is simply no longer viable.

Socially we are being pressured by circumstances, apparently beyond our control, to let go of the old (Saturn) and make room for the new (Uranus).  Many aspects of life which we thought were secure are now threatened.  Change is happening and it is inevitable.  Even in the best of times change is challenging and frightening for most people.  Our habits, reflecting our conditioning, represent familiarity to us.  Now we are been asked to forfeit the known and secure for the new and uncertain.

Faith and good will must accompany change in order for the outcome to be positive.  But fear is a strong weapon - convention and the establishment do not want to give way easily.  The fear mongers predictably attempt to control with fear as the choice and primary weapon (Saturn).  But we now can see the truth, and we do have choices! 

Our choices require taking risks (Uranus).  At stake is a great potential and huge reward for an equally prosperous, yet more sustainable future.  Our ability to communicate and use technology constructively for the benefit of the masses is a skill and tool we can employ to combat our current situation.  However, we need to act on common values and interests, that is, from a global perspective!  If we don’t make choices that are somehow mutually beneficial for all, we may actually be forced to co-operate with the masses and each other.  It is the nature of Aquarius to co-operate.  It is the age of “Brotherhood and Humanity” towards which we are moving.  The option remains as to how.  Do we do it willingly, or unwillingly?

On a more personal note, where this Saturn/Uranus opposition falls in your own horoscope reveals where it is in your life you need to yield and make way for new thoughts and behavior, despite any discomfort.  Those born around the 11th-16th of December, March, June and September (the mutable signs of Sagittarius, Gemini, Virgo and Pisces) are likely to be most intensely affected by this transit right now.  Maybe it is worth a brief glance into your past, around 1988, when these two planets, Saturn and Uranus, where traveling together.  What did you initiate back then that you now need to revise, update and bring to balance?  Create space in your personal life for the new by getting rid of the old!  This period will not pass without its growing pains.  United, we can make a difference if we are willing to not act in fear.  Remember that 99.99% of what we fear never occurs.  It is the boogie man in our mind.  Our progress, collectively and personally, is an inside job.  Let’s do it well!

Aries - Allow your intuition to guide you though this period of work and commitment.  Trust what comes to you despite the awkwardness.  Remember to acknowledge and appreciate your relationships.  Make space for grace!

Taurus - Your personal growth depends on how you approach future goals.  Take a risk, even though you may feel under confident.  It’s the nature of the beast, the bull in your case.  Don’t succumb to fear and insecurity…these are your enemies.  Practice trust and faith.

Gemini - Many changes are occurring on your own soil.  Observe and act with prudence as you construct a new foundation for yourself.  Friendships and associates may nurture you in ways you do not realize.   Allow them in and accept their assistance. 

Cancer - If you wish to go deeper now is the time.  Opportunity is knocking at your door.  What are you waiting for?  Take action and dive into something exciting, meaningful, and maybe even a tad scary.  The key word in your vocabulary today is trust.

Leo - What a terrific time to compete in so many ways.  You are likely to win even if you only half-participate.  The gods are on your side!  Make an effort to have fun with your friends and colleagues.  Entertain at home!

Virgo - This is an excellent time to concentrate on what you love.  Don’t analyze…you know what makes you tick.  Concentrate your energy as you embark on new Saturn cycle.  Strive towards acceptance, tolerance and responsibility.

Libra - Concentrate on making changes at work in order to experience a greater sense of freedom and purpose.  After all, how do you spend your time?  Endeavor to create harmony and balance where you live, within and without.

Scorpio - Happy Birthday Scorpios!  Did you know that there are three symbols for your sign?  There is the scorpion with its deadly sting, the serpent which periodically sheds its skin, and the phoenix that rises from the ashes.  All of these symbols reflect the ability to transform and regenerate the self.  Today you don’t have to venture far from home in order to apply these principles in life.  Moderation will help you achieve your goals.

Sagittarius - Happy Birthday Sag’s!  As we approach the end of our year you commence yours.  Invite your dreams and vision to guide you through the next two months.  Focus on what you value most.  Be willing to make changes at home (within and without).  Any apparent stumbling blocks have their roots within you.  Now is the time to conduct a thorough investigation into how your mind works.  Insight is the key to success.

Capricorn - Our beliefs are the backbone of our decisions.  Where do you need to make adjustments?  Your ideas and ideals about life and how it works require deeper consideration.  Focus on what is most meaningful.  The rest will fall into place.

Aquarius - Professional and social activities abound as we near the end of this year.  You have accomplished much.  Be kind to yourself.  Quite moments and serene places nurture you more than you imagine.  Allow time for reflection and gratitude. 

Pisces - What have you been learning about relationships and partnerships this last year?  It’s all about honoring commitments and keeping your side of the street clean.  Don’t worry so much about what others are doing.  Remain honest and true to yourself.
